Opposition to Vouchers

Since 2011, the Knox County Board of Education has passed at least four resolutions opposing school voucher legislation.

Regardless of the name being used school voucher programs divert PUBLIC tax dollars to PRIVATE organizations, with substandard requirements and an overall lack of oversight. Instead of propping up private enterprises (many of which have been tied to legislators’ campaigns), PUBLIC funds should be used to support our PUBLIC schools.

The failure of our legislature to fully support public schools is a failure to uphold the state constitution, as well as an ethical and moral failure.
